Donation to the Centre for Movement Disorders

There have been recent funding cuts to Health Care in Ontario that directly affect members/retirees of our union. In the spring of this year, the Centre for Movement Disorders (CFMD), an internationally recognized clinic, announced that it lost its funding and would be closing as of August 31, 2013. CFMD has received funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) for the last decade, however the recent decision to cut funding will leave over 2,500 patients without specialized health care options. Members of the community have been working with CFMD to gain political awareness and find a solution to keep the clinic open. The Trades Council supports this cause and will be donating a portion of the proceeds from our upcoming golf tournament. For more on this story, please click here to read more.
