The Bill Robinson Memorial Golf Tournament was a huge success. Many members and executives came out to enjoy a day filled with beautiful weather, golfing, lunch, prizes, entertainment and an evening banquet dinner. During the banquet, President Jimmy Hazel and Vice-President Mike Morgan had the honour of presenting a plaque and cheque for the highest achieving technical student. The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) chooses whom they think are the five best candidates for this award. Mr. Hazel and Mr. Morgan interviewed the five candidates in hopes of finding one that would best fit the description of the award. Nineteen-year-old Clayton Palmer of Toronto, who is studying in Electrical Trades, is the first recipient of the award, thus receiving a bursary for $1,000. Specifically, he received a plaque and cheque at the golfing event. His proud father accompanied Mr. Clayton Palmer as he happily accepted the award. In addition, Donna Cansfield, who is currently the Parliamentary assistant to the Ministry of Finance and former member of the Etobicoke Board of Education, as well as former Chair of the Toronto District School Board attended the event and was part of presenting the award to Clayton. On behalf of the entire Executive Board at MCSTC, we congratulate Mr. Clayton Palmer and we wish him success in his continued education of the Electrical Trade.
