Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 – Young adults through Westview Centennial, were given the opportunity to gain practical experience with wood working. Trades Council employees, Pat Mealiffe and Gilbert Drane, worked closely with these kids in order to successfully build furniture for The Toronto District School Board. Students who successfully complete the program will be given an opportunity to receive a carpentry apprenticeship through the Trades Council.
The program started in April2004 and has been successful ever since. Recently, it has received more funding in order to continue providing this opportunity to young adults. Also, the Toronto District School Board is saving money from buying furniture as this program provides it to them.
