On February 6th to 8th, 2015, boxers from across Ontario joined together for one of the biggest and most anticipated tournaments in the province – the 2015 Brampton Cup. The tournament, which took place at the Century Gardens in Brampton, welcomed boxers of all weight categories and levels to show what they were made of and fight for the glory of being named Brampton Cup Champion.

The Maintenance, Construction and Skilled Trades Council is proud to have been a main sponsor of the Brampton Cup for the past ten years. Over a decade ago, a member of the MCSTC and coach of one of the boxers in the tournament approached the council about sponsorship opportunities.

“We all agreed it would be a great opportunity to give back to the community and get involved in an amazing community initiative,” President Jimmy Hazel says.

“We started sponsoring the event ten years ago and have never looked back.”

With 160 fights over the course of three days, the tournament was filled with non-stop adrenaline and excitement.

Hazel had a chance to share some words of encouragement with Boxer Sean “The Real Deal” Ratcliffe in his debut match at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre.

To date, approximately $15,000 has been given to the Brampton Cup by the MCSTC, and the council will continue to sponsor the event in the years to come.
