Edward Leary

It’s with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of retired brother Edward Leary. Ed passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the age of 68.

Ed has been a member of the MCSTC since we were formed and worked for the Toronto School Board prior to amalgamation. Ed was a Combustion Mechanic and served on our Health & Safety Committee up to his retirement date of March 31, 2015.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ed’s family during this very difficult time.

Funeral arrangements have been made for Friday, August 11 at 1 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 3B8. Visitation hours are on Thursday, August 10 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7: p.m. – 9 p.m.

Kevin Cosgrove

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Kevin Cosgrove. Kevin was an electrician with us since July 7, 2003. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter during this difficult time.


Jordan Lazaridis

We are saddened to inform you that one of our Millwrights, Jordan Lazaridis, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Jordan had been off sick since November 2012.

Visitation is on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM, at York Cemetery and Visitation Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd, North York. The funeral service is Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 10:30 AM, at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Dr., Toronto.

Condolences for Violet Jia Liang

The Maintenance, Construction and Skilled Trades Council (MCSTC) express its deepest sympathy to the family of Violet Jia Liang, a student who attended C. W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute and who was struck and killed by a truck this morning near the school. We understand she was a well-liked student who will be missed by both her classmates and teachers. We can’t imagine the loss that her family must be feeling at this time, our thoughts and prayers are with them.
